I've tacked on some random pics of Ayla at 8 weeks old... we can't believe our baby is 2 months old already. In some ways it seems like she's been with us forever, but in others it feels like it was just yesterday that she joined our world!
Waking up with Daddy... I think she was trying to see herself in the mirror, just one of the activities she's enjoying more & more!
She's reaching for things and beginning to grasp objects. She's also getting better & better at holding her head up on her own. One thing she can't stand though is being on her stomach... it takes us about 20 minutes to calm her down after "tummy time". It's so amazing to see her grow & change, right before our eyes, it seems!

try this! lay on your back on the floor and pull your knees up to a 90 degree position and then put Ayla on her tummy on your shins. Hold her hands and then she can see you and get the same affects of tummy time and she might like this better. it also helps if you act like a complete goof ball too...she might really enjoy this fun game with her mommy and won't even think about the tummy time she's doing..good luck and you'll have to let me know how it works...
Thanks Rachel. Yes, I've tried putting her on my shins & also laying her on my stomach... and of, course silliness & tummy time go hand in hand. These positions definitely buy me more time than laying her on a blanket or her play mat, but she still plain HATES it! :) Laying her on the bed or couch while I sit down below on the floor also gives her a little more time. I just have to do it more frequently & for shorter periods of time throughout the day (before her train pulls into frustration station)... a little frustration is good... too much & we're calming her for 20 minutes. It's funny to see her enjoying it momentarily & then it's as if she "remembers" that she doesn't like it!
Like my dad says, it's pretty hard to screw this thing up or like Ross' dad says, no matter what you do you'll screw up... they mean the same thing really. Somehow all babies learn to crawl & walk... She at least holds her head up pretty well by herself & can push herself up when she does do tummy time. Considering she's got 4 more months until she should ABSOLUTELY be able to roll over, I'd say she's doing pretty well!
Thanks for the tip, Rachel... I'm finding out that being a mom is like joining a special club where we all help & support one another! :) It's pretty incredible! Take care!
